Kindergarten, oh Kindergarten (and a sleepover)

Is it possible? Could my baby really have just completed his second week of kindergarten? It seems like it was just yesterday that we were in the hospital being rushed to an emergency C-section and holding this squishy little thing.

I mean, really, how does one go from being this small to starting school in 5 (and 1/2) years? It doesn’t seem fair.

This boy has always been such a serious old soul. Very pensive since the day he was born. He is approaching school in the same way, and I wish he would embrace being a child and enjoy singing and dancing and being a kindergartener. But he has never been his age, and I don’t think he ever will. It will be a challenge for me and every teacher he has, but I am confident that it won’t be long before he learns to love learning, and I think he has the right teacher for the job!!!!

Among our list of firsts these past couple weeks we can add his first sleepover into the mix. He has had cousins stay over before, but this weekend he had a friend stay over. They had so much fun going for pizza, eating ice cream, playing at the playground, and playing at the house. Corey didn’t want to go to sleep or for Cayden to leave the next day.

My baby is growing up….

Summer Break is OVER

Well, it's official. Summer BREAK is over (I know the season has not ended). Lesson plans are done and I am MOSTLY ready for classes tomorrow. This summer has been pretty awesome. We started out with a couple weeks visiting family in good old Corry, PA.
My awesome brother in law convinced Corey to get a haircut
We spent the day at the zoo with one of my mommy friends.

I had a great birthday with Chris, Casey and Nikki at a winery.

We got home just before the 4th of July, had some family over for cards and played with sparklers

We spent A LOT of time at the beach and the pool.
All in all it was an awesome summer. So awesome none of us are looking forward to the end, especially the one going to kindergarten (more on that in a couple of days). For now, it is time to get my first couple of days underway before I deal with that emotional event!
