9 Months

In honor of Corey's 9 month birthday, I am going to list 9 things I love about him:

1. I love how he gets so excited he can barely move his arms fast enough when Chris and I come home from work.

2. I love how determined he is to get something he wants (even when he is not supposed to have it)
3. I love that every once in a while, when he is playing, he will crawl over to me and snuggle with me for a second before continuing to play.

4. I love that he is such an easy going kid.
5. I love that he is finally gaining some independence, but I hate that he does not need me as much.
6. I love it when he gives me open mouthed kisses, even though I have drool running down my cheek afterwards.
7. I love it when he babbles and tells me all kinds of stories about his day.
8. I love that he is weaning himself off of the pacifier and saving me the trouble of doing it when he is older.
9. I love that he is developing a personality and I can tell he is going to be a really entertaining kid (because he is a VERY entertaining baby).

Sorry it is so dark, the living room light wasn't on for some reason.

"The Road"

Here are some pictures of "the road" after TS Fay. This wasn't even as bad as it got.
(Excuse the truck in all the pictures, we followed him in the day we took the pictures)

This is where we got stuck on Monday (before they put the gravel in there).

This Child Never Ceases to Amaze Me

He is just turning into what seemed so far away when he was first born. He was so little and dependent, it is amazing how much they learn to do in the first years of their life. He is into everything, but at this point it is amusing (I know very soon it will be a major pain). Right now I can keep the mess contained in the living room.

The other day I had his seat in the living room to feed him breakfast. Well, I didn't put it away and it was something new. So, of course, he wants to play with it. Next thing I know he has pulled it over to the couch...

All to get to Daddy's computer bag.

The following day he was back at the changing table, terrorizing it. Well, he had pulled out all the diapers he could reach, so he went onto his tiptoes to reach it. It is amazing the confidence he is getting with standing.

This is his determined stubborn look!!!

As he finished up tearing up diapers, he turned, and, barely hanging on, stood up and held on to the turtle. He didn't PULL himself up, he stood up. So, I went into a tyred on how he is not aloud to grow up and start walking, talking, and telling me no. He climbed down off the turtle, crawled over to me (I was laying on my tummy taking pictures of him), put his forehead against mine, and laughed at me!!! I know the inevitable will happen.

This kid is too much, there is never a dull moment!!!

Sheryl's Bridal Shower

Sheryl's Shower was an absolute blast!!! She had a good turn out and we all had a good time. It is hard to believe their wedding is about 3 weeks away. For those reading this that don't know OP and Sheryl... they have been our friends since middle and high school, but they didn't start dating until after high school. You could not find a more caring and compassionate couple of people. They have been their for Chris and I through a lot, and we are extremely happy they are still a part of our lives. Because, as you may know, friendships from high school rarely last. Not to say that we have had our periods of not seeing each other for a while (we all live pretty busy lives). But, when we do meet up again it is like no time has passed at all. Anyway, here are some more pictures from the shower:

These two things were made by my wonderfully talented Mother In Law, Kathy. The card cake has been in several weddings, including mine.

The loot and the cake.

We Survived Tropical Storm Fay (she way overstayed her welcome)

And she still hasn't left. As I sit here she is pounding away at our door asking to stay. But, she caused our power to be out for 18 hours. So, no thank you, she can go away now!!! Not only that but she caused us to have 4 days off of work, which we are going to have to make up during Thanksgiving break when we really need the break. At least Chris is sane enough to have used the generator to hook up the TV and internet so we didn't go completely crazy today. However, because of the heat and no AC Corey did not take very good naps today which = no time to get things done.

So, I started this last night (Thursday) thinking I would wake up this morning to a dry morning. How wrong I was. It is still raining and our pond is about to overflow. Thank goodness we had the sense to build our house on a hill. This is the fourth straight day of raining and I want to go out. Sheryl's Bridal Shower is tomorrow and I am concerned I will not be able to get off the road!!!

Here is a comparison of the pond on Tuesday compared to today:

My Son, The Planner...

I am not sure where he gets it. Chris and I sure don't plan out anything ;)

This all started a couple of weeks ago when he really started pulling himself up. We pulled his changing table in front of the odd opening in our living room that no baby gate will block, and he likes to go out of it to get to the dog food. Well, on this particular day he pulled himself on the turtle ottoman that we had right next to the changing table, he looked behind him and noticed there was nothing but tile floor. So, he started whining for someone to help him down. Once we did he crawled over to his changing table, took all the clothes and blankets off of it and put them beside the turtle. Then, he proceeded to pull himself back up on the turtle look at us and laugh and wave. So cute.

Today, the changing table was in the same spot, and he has been trying find a way to get by it, to get to the dog food. First he pulled everything off the bottom shelf and made a major mess. Then tried to get the courage to crawl through.

But, he sure is cute!!!

Back to Reality

It's that time again, the beginning of the school year. This time of year has never been so bittersweet for me. I normally LOVE the beginning of the school year, the newness and freshness of it. But, this year there are so many changes in my life, and I am a person who likes constants. The biggest change is having to deal with leaving my precious baby at home. I loved these last couple of months and spending every waking moment with him!!! He is growing and doing new things everytime I turn around. This is one of his new tricks:

Secondly, Chris has started his masters and on top of having to go to class two nights a week from 6-10 (with driving time he is gone from 5-10:30), he is studying most nights he does not have class:

Sorry hun, had to do it. But, seriously, he is working really hard!!!!

The final change that is the wierdest for me is that I am NOT at Oak Hill, the place where I grew up as a teacher. However, I do like my team at Pride and am getting used to the classroom and all the new technology ;) Here are some pictures of my new classroom:

The Tux Fitting

The tux fitting went well yesterday. Chris, Corey, and I arrived a little early so Corey got some Daddy time.
When everyone got there we all went inside and OP gave the guy the information on his groomsmen.
Poor Corey still was not feeling well, he still had a slight fever. But he was a trooper through the whole fitting. We found out they sell little tuxes for babies, but since he wasn't feeling well we didn't fit him into one. We are going to go back to fit him into one!!!!

They decided to go with a brown pinstripe tux that matches the dresses PERFECTLY with a solid aqua vest and tie, with white for OP of course!!! (The one on the left)

Then the boys had to be measured for their tuxes and try on different pants, jackets, and shoes to check the sizes.

After we were all done there, the boys went out to eat at Cancun Lagoon and Sheryl and I went to Olive Garden.
